Privacy policy

How Banbɔfoɔ collects, uses and protects your information.

Last updated: 14 October 2026

1Who we are

Banbɔfoɔ is a citizen safety reporting platform for Ghana, developed by Semper Spectant Oculi (SSO). This policy explains what we do with your personal data.

2What we collect

  • Account: your name and Ghanaian phone number.
  • Reports: descriptions, photos, videos, GPS location and time of each report.
  • Payment: your Mobile Money number, only if you want a reward.
  • Technical: device model, app version and crash logs.

3How we use it

To send your report to the right service, let you track your case, notify you of progress, pay verified rewards, prevent abuse and improve the app.

4Anonymous reports

You can report anonymously. Your identity is not shown to the public, and not to the responding services unless the law requires it. A Mobile Money number is only needed if you want to be paid.

5Who we share it with

Reports are shared with the Ghana Police Service, the Ghana National Fire Service, NADMO, district assemblies and other relevant agencies. Mobile Money providers receive only what is needed to pay you. We never sell your data.

6Your rights

Under the Data Protection Act, 2012 (Act 843) you can ask to access, correct or delete your data, and object to certain uses. You may also complain to the Data Protection Commission of Ghana.

7Security and retention

Data is encrypted in transit and access is limited by role. We keep reports as long as needed for the case and for legal obligations, then delete or anonymise them.

8Age

Banbɔfoɔ is for adults aged 18 and over.
